Nordic Africa Institute library services for distance users – Zoom event 13 Feb. 2024

Welcome to a zoom introduction to Nordic Africa Institute Library’s distance services for Nordic based students and researchers. The majority of our library users are based outside of Uppsala.

On 13 February at 11.30 – 12.00 CET, (12:30 – 13:00 in Finnish time zone) we will have a zoom introduction to our distance services. The presentation is about 20 minutes and then we have set aside time for possible questions. The majority of user groups at NAI library are based outside of Uppsala. We serve users throughout the Nordic countries. Some of our services are also accessible for users based in Africa.

Library resources

 Nordic Africa institute library, a social science library focused towards contemporary Africa. More than 89 000 print titles and a vast electronic curated collection of both open access resources and licensed resources.

 Africalitplus

Our extensive search tool Africalitplus covers downloadable full text, references to print material and to restricted online material. Possible to search on country/subjects/authors/titles etc.  Note the option Open Access for accessible e-content. It appears after each search, at the right in the screen, under the section Availability. Every month approximately 30 recent open access titles with an African studies focus are added to the collection.

Interlibrary loans to Nordic countries
It is possible to order our books as interlibrary loans through your local library. Interlibrary loans between Nordic countries are free of charge in all countries except for in Finland and Iceland due to local library regulations. Nordic Africa Institute does not charge for interlibrary loans. Check with your library if they do free of charge Nordic interlibrary loans.
