AdaptNet. AdaptNet is a community of adaptation specialists, sharing the latest information on adaptation strategies, measures, tools, research and analysis, and highlighting best practice and implementation. It focuses on cities in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, but nested within a global network of cities.

African Food Security Urban Network (AFSUN). AFSUN was established in 2008 as a network of African and international universities, non-governmental and community organizations, and municipal governance networks. The netowrk aims, among other goals, to improve  the knowledge base on urban food security in Africa and to build African human resource capacity and expertise in food security policy and management.

Cities Alliance. The Cities Alliance is a global coalition of cities and their development partners committed to scaling up successful approaches to poverty reduction. The Alliance brings cities together in a direct dialogue with bilateral and multilateral agencies and financial institutions. Alliance members promote the developmental role of local governments and help cities of all sizes obtain more coherent international support.

Competence Platform on Energy Crop and Agroforestry Systems for Arid and Semi-arid Ecosystems- Africa (COMPETE). The objective of this Competence Platform is to stimulate bioenergy implementation in arid and semi-arid regions in Africa.

Danish International Human Settlement Service (DIB). DIB supports local partners in the development and carrying out of newly established settlement projects involving marginalised citizens in the developign world. In Denmark, DIB's focus is on communication, anchoring and academic and political work.

Environment and Urbanization, IIED. The internationally renowned journal 'Environment and Urbanization' has it's own webpage including links to E&U online where most back issues can be downloaded free of charge.

Global Network on Energy for Sustainable Development (GNESD). GNESD is a UNEP facilitated knowledge network of developing world Centers of Excellence and network partners. The main objective of GNESD is to work for reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).

Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). IGES is a research institute that conducts pragmatic and innovative strategic policy research to support sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mega-Cities Project. The Mega-Cities Project is a transnational, non-profit network of leaders from government, business, non-profits, grassroots groups, academia and media, dedicated to sharing innovative solutions to the problems they face in common.

Minerals and Energy Education Training Institute (MEETI) (South Africa). MEETI aims to contribute to improving the implementation process of public policies in the minerals and energy sectors by enhancing the knowledge of stakeholders about the management of the industry, potential risk factors and about compliance requirements with the new legislation.

RUAF Foundation - Resource Centres on Urban Agriculture and Food Security. The RUAF Foundation functions as a global network of 6 regional organisations that share a common vision on urban development and poverty reduction and together implement an international programme focussed on urban agriculture and food security.

South African Cities Network (SACN). The South African Cities Network is an established network of South African cities and partners that encourages the exchange of information, experience and best practices on urban development and city management.

Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (Formas). Formas is a governmental research-funding agency related to several ministries, the Ministry of Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Affairs, and the Ministry of Education, Research and Culture. Formas encourages and supports scientifically significant research related to sustainable development.

U

UN Habitat. The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-HABITAT, is the United Nations agency for human settlements. It aims to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. The site contains free material on a wide range of urban issues.

Urban Harvest. Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) initiative to direct and coordinate the collective knowledge and technologies of the Future Harvest Centers towards strengthening urban and peri-urban agriculture.
