TWOWS Postgraduate Training Fellowship for Women Scientists

The Third World Organisation for Women in Science (TWOWS) is accepting applications for its postgraduate fellowship programme. The TWOWS fellowship supports female students from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who wish to pursue postgraduate training in natural sciences leading to a PhD at centres of excellence in developing countries.

Application deadline: July 31, 2010


Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowships (IIF)

This FP7 grant aims to reinforce the scientific excellence of the European Member States and the Associated countries through knowledge sharing with incoming top-class researchers active in a third country to work on research projects in Europe, with the view to developing mutuallybeneficial research co-operation between Europe and a third country.

Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellowships for Career Development (IOF)

This FP7 scheme aims to reinforce the international dimension of the career of European researchers by giving them the opportunity to be trained and acquire new knowledge in a high-level organisation active in research, established in a third country.

EliteForsk rejsestipendier [in Danish]

Initiativet EliteForsk indkalder hermed forslag til et begrænset antal EliteForsk-rejsestipendier til de allerdygtigste og mest talentfulde ph.d.- studerende indskrevet på danske institutioner. Stipendierne udgør 300.000 kr., der skal anvendes til et studieophold ved et af de allerbedste internationale forskningsmiljøer.

Call for Integrated Programmes 2010-2011 - WOTRO Science for International Development, Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO)

The Integrated Programme scheme is aimed at supporting problem-oriented interdisciplinary research to the benefit of development and societal issues in developing countries. An IP may address developmental and societal issues, and has to be a collaborative initiative of researchers from the Netherlands (NL) and from one or more developing countries (DC).

Application deadline: September 2, 2010, 12:00 hrs


Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development

The Award is a competitive research grant program administered by the Global Development Network (GDN) that identifies and funds research proposals in developing and transition countries with high potential for excellence in research and clear policy implications for addressing development issues.

Application deadline: October 18, 2010


TWAS Fellowships 2010

TWAS, the academy of sciences for the developing world, is now accepting applications for its postgraduate, postdoctoral, visiting scholars and advanced research fellowship programmes. The fellowships are offered to scientists, generally from the natural sciences, from developing countries and are tenable at centres of excellence in various countries in the South. Female scientists are especially encouraged to apply.

Deadline for applications are country and programme specific.


Global South Scholar-in-Residence Programme - the Graduate Institute, Geneva

The Graduate Institute in Geneva has launched a new academic programme, inviting a small number of scholars from the global South to the Institute for a periode of one semester in order to participate in teaching courses and further personal research projects.

Application deadlines: Each March 31 for the autumn semester; October 31 for the spring semester


Several FP7 calls launched

The European Commission has published a number of calls for proposals under the specific programmes Cooperation and Capacities of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The calls address the following areas:

Cooperation:
- Security;
- Space;
- Health (two calls);
- Environment (including climate change);
- Food, agriculture and fisheries, and biotechnology;
- Energy (three calls);
- Socio-economic sciences and humanities (three calls);
- Biorefinery joint call (two sections), including energy; environment (including climate change); food, agriculture and fisheries, and biotechnology; and nanosciences, nanotechnologies, materials and new production technologies.

Capacities:
- Research for the benefit of SMEs (three calls);
- Activities of international cooperation (four calls);
- Science in society;
- Regions of knowledge.
