Food security - Events[Updated: July 27, 2010] This is a new section of the DDRN website where you can find information on events concerning food security - one of the current focal themes of DDRN. The events are listed chronologically, but please note that new events posted since the latest monthly DDRN newsletter are posted at the top of this page. The conference will bring together scientists, government agencies, technology developers, engineers and NGO in an attempt to create a platform to exchange ideas and best practices on the implementation of e-Services for Agriculture, Food, Environment and Life sciences, with emphasis on e-Agriculture initiatives worldwide. Date: September 8-10, 2010 SEB Food Security and Safety Symposium This interdisciplinary Symposium organised by the Society for Experimental Biology (SEB) will bring together bioscientists, technologists, social scientists, specialists in ethics, economics and policy to share their research information and expertise. Talks will be followed by periods of discussion with plenty of opportunity for delegates to network, identify potential inter- and cross-disciplinary collaborations and build on current knowledge. Date: September 13-15, 2010 Call for papers: ICCAFFE 2011 - Climate change, agri-food, fisheries and ecosystems The ICCAFFE 2011 conference hosted by the North-South Research Center for Social Sciences (NRCS) will focus on issues related to climate change, agriculture, food security and ecosystems from an interdisciplinary approach and a developing country perspective. It intends to bring together scientists, policy-makers, practitioners, and non-state actors from different regions to share updated research outcomes and relevant experiences and set future research and policy agendas. A call has been issued for presentations, posters and papers relating to conference themes. Date: May 20-22, 2011 First Global Conference on Biofortification: From Discovery to Delivery The Conference is the first international effort to take stock of progress made in developing nutrient-rich crops, share lessons learned, and chart the future of biofortification. This three-day event will bring agricultural scientists, public health specialists, policymakers, donors, and business leaders together to move this emerging agricultural intervention for public health forward. Date: November 9–11, 2010 The University of Hohenheim will be hosting the 117th European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) seminar in November 2010 looking at climate change, agriculture and vulnerability and resilience of food systems. Date: November 25-27, 2010 |
