DDRN group: Poverty and Environment

The working group has existed since 2003 as an informal group, meeting 3-4 times a year. The main activities of the working group are currently focused on arranging a public seminar series on poverty-environment issues.

The objectives are to:
• Contribute to an improved understanding of the poverty-environment relationship with specific focus upon natural resources
• Explore ways to improve policy and practice in the field of rural poverty reduction and natural resource management
• Address how a concern for poverty-environment linkages can be safeguarded and mainstreamed under a sector and programme-based approach in ODA.

Expected outcome:
- A well-established seminar series on poverty-environment relationships
- Better informed research, policy and practice with respect to poverty and environment interactions.

6 seminars were held at Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) during the period April - December 2008. A report on all 6 seminars can be downloaded here.

2 out of 3 planned seminars in 2009 have been held at Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS).
You may follow the links for more information on the first and second seminar.
